The action of CHP Inc. centers around equipment donations. Donated equipment includes glucometers and blood pressure cuffs. These simple yet proven diagnostic tools are key to the detection and control of diabetes and hypertension respectively. The long-term goal of CHP Inc. is to help equip health centers in disadvantaged communities with advanced diagnostic tools including automated analyzers.
Diabetes & Hypertension?
There is a strong link between diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure). People with diabetes are more likely to develop hypertension, and hypertension can increase the risk of developing diabetes.
Both diabetes and hypertension are associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, such as heart attack and stroke. When left uncontrolled, both conditions can lead to serious health complications.
The link between diabetes and hypertension is thought to be due to, in part, to insulin resistance and changes in the way the body regulates blood pressure.
